Change the routine : Report on gymnastics 2021

Following the release of the Australian Human Rights Commission report into gymnastics in Australia we are providing the below links to all our members to access information on the report.

At Southern Canberra we have been implementing many of the proposed recommendations within the club for some time and we will continue to do so with our focus as always being that it’s all about the kids.

NOTICE TO MEMBERS REGARDING COVID- 19

Dear Southern Canberra Gymnastics Club families,

The health and safety of our gymnasts, their families and staff are very important to us. We are closely monitoring recommendations from ACT Health and the Australian Government along with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other public health agencies regarding COVID-19.

We would like to reassure you that we are doing all we can in the current circumstances to avoid as much disruption as possible while maintaining operations of the club and some form of normality for our gymnasts.

Currently, there are some changes to classes in order for us to meet government guidelines. We will continue to monitor the State and National health departments as well as the WHO for updates, any required changes. We will update our Facebook and members if anything changes, so for the most up to date information, please keep an eye on our Facebook page. In order to minimise the risk of contracting the virus, below are responsibilities for gymnasts, families and staff.

GYMNAST RESPONSIBILITIES

All gymnasts must wash or sanitise their hands prior to commencing class. Coaches will be assisting with this and gymnasts will not be permitted on the floor without following hand hygiene.

Gymnasts should stay home and not attend class is they are feeling sick or a family member or close contact is sick.

Gymnasts are to limit their contact with one another, this includes no handshaking, high fives or hugging. Elbow bumping is a great way to say hello and goodbye! Please bring a water bottle to class as the bubbler will be turned off until further notice.

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

To limit the number of people in the club there will be no ability to view classes with the exception of Kindergym. All parents must drop and pick up their child(ren) at the gym entrance.

If anyone in your household has travelled overseas, please follow government guidelines and self-isolate for 14 days before any gymnast returning to class. We are happy to organise make-up sessions for these missed classes. If your child is unwell, they must not attend class. We understand it is disappointing for children to miss classes.

COACH AND STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

All staff and coaches will be washing their hands before and after every class. Staff will meet parents at the door at the beginning and end of class to ensure gymnasts have been safely dropped off and picked up.Additional cleaning and sanitising of all mats and equipment is being completed daily. If possible, please help us out with bringing in some toilet paper or hand sanitiser. We are trying our best to stock up, but it's proving a bit difficult at the moment.Your continued support of Southern Canberra Gymnastics Club is greatly valued and appreciated. We look forward to being able to work with you and your gymnasts for many years to come. We welcome and encourage questions and feedback or assistance, so feel free to contact our office.
